Jennifer Amara
Hello teachers and welcome to a new and exciting dance season! My name is Jennifer Amara and I grew up in East Bridgewater where I began dancing at my godmother's studio Paula Coffey Dance Center. Dance has always been a part of my life with not only my godmother being my dance teacher but my mother as well and now we are lucky enough to have worked together for 20+ years. My dance career has brought me to my love of Tap dancing, to Dean College as a dance major, receiving the Gregory Hine's Tap Scholarship, dancing with Break the Floor in NYC, my love of Tap Dogs, teaching children and adults of all ages and being a part of many different studios. In 2015, I became licensed to teach POUND and shortly after I became licensed to teach Generation POUND. "POUND is a cardio jam-session designed to release the rockstar within us all while promoting total-body fitness. Instead of listening to the music, you become the music in this full-body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movement." "Generation POUND was created not just as workout geared towards to kids, but a MOVEMENT that aims to change the concept of health and fitness for today's youth. The program fuses movement and music to improve focus, coordination, physical fitness and teamwork skills for "Rockstars in training"."
POUND has completely changed my life and filled my heart. I continue to teach POUND weekly in a fitness studio in Plymouth where I have lived for the past 7 years with my husband and daughter. I have taught at dance studios as part of their summer programs. With my classes we have raised money for Alzheimers, T1D, The Sydney Craven Memorial Fund, raised money for a local daycare/preschool to provide them with supplies for their classroom and GLOW classes as well!!!!
Generation POUND has a very special place in my heart. During the summer of 2015, I began teaching classes to the kids in my neigbhorhood during the summer months and after a few years my husband and I started our own summer camps. For the past 3 years, my husband and I have created 5 camps for children ranging in ages 4-9 years old. I also run a yearly Christmas Workshop for the kiddos in Plymouth. Generation POUND has also opened up the doors for creating T(w)een Nights for the 10-13 year olds. Generation POUND is an amazing experience for the kids because it not only allows them to move their bodies and learn about health and fitness but I also incorporate activities that work on both fine and gross motor skills. We also will have obstacles, games, holiday activities, treats, crafts and tons and tons of fun!!!
I am so excited to meet all of you on Sunday, October 15th and I am looking forward to waking you and moving those bodies!!! Please bring your sneakers, comfortable clothing to work out in, a yoga mat, water and a SMILE!!! POUND is for everyBODY and I can't wait to show you!
